During a recent Fire Risk Assessment at a purpose-built housing scheme, the need for immediate fire door refurbishment was identified. The scheme for the over 55’s located in Hull offers 42 unfurnished flats for long term rent.
Yee Group’s Passive Fire Protection (PFP) division was awarded the contract to undertake the works. Liaising closely with the independent living Scheme Manager; Yee Group repaired, replaced and upgraded 20 door sets in corridors and communal areas throughout the building.
The projects’ dual objectives of timely project delivery and minimal disruption to residents; meant that the project needed to run smoothly and to schedule. Such priorities are very common in buildings with multiple households and so the Yee Group project manager double checked the specification of every door and scheduled the works sensitively, to suit the residents of the flats, prior to the operational team arriving on site.
Benefits of working with Yee Group.
The FIRAS certified installers at Yee Group brought Fire Stopping skills to the scheme, together with years of experience dealing with residents in multi occupancy and social care buildings. In terms of aesthetics, the team went to great lengths to work neatly and match new fire doors with existing interiors. While fire doors had to play a critical role in fire safety and needed to meet Standards, Yee Group also wanted them to be attractive and have a high-quality, durable finish.
Simon Chapman MD of Yee Group stated, “Clients and service-users often comment on the respectful and professional nature of our approach to the people we encounter while on site in residential settings.” He added “The client’s objective for residents in this property is that they live “comfortably, securely, and independently” and we respected that aspiration every day that we were on site”.
