We are delighted to have been able to appoint two new Project Managers from within our company. Our customers will be familiar with team members Steve and Dan because they are both very established members of the engineering team here at Yee Group. As a company we make a significant effort to develop all our employees and it was great to promote two of our engineering team at the same time. We spoke to the guys about their plans for their new roles and to find out more about how they were settling in.
Steve Bullock – Project Manager
Customers will recognise Steve Bullock, who has worked on many Fire and Security installations across the Midlands for the past 25 years. Recently promoted to Project Manager, Steve has risen through the engineering ranks at Yee Group. Interestingly, despite all his technological knowledge the challenge he is enjoying the most is learning new skills and meeting new customers.
Steve explained “responsibility for planning a project was always in someone else’s hands – now I can bring all my experience to the job and I get a real buzz finding the right solution for the customers’ business.”
Something that won’t change with his appointment as a Project Manager is the mentoring he provides to the company’s young engineers. Steve said “being an active part of the company’s training, passing on my experience and seeing our engineers go through the apprenticeship and grow into great engineers is very rewarding. “
Steve’s passion for engineering is strong, it shows through in his many ideas for his new role, his motivation and support for others around him and his many interests.
Dan Banford – Project Manager
As an experienced electrician and fire engineer, Dan offers your business continuity. Dan joined Yee Group as an apprentice 17 years ago and is highly respected among our customers for his expertise and technical knowledge. He was very happy in his engineering role and it might be said that while he absolutely relished the idea of a new challenge as a Project Manager, he anticipated some personal adjustments simply because he loved the hands-on role so much. Moving out of his comfort zone has been a challenge yet it’s been a great move.
Dan explained “My experience is so in-depth and the range of projects has been so broad over the years that I worked on as an engineer, that Project Management is coming naturally to me. The insight I bring, to timescales and managing materials makes me a better Project Manager. “
“Looking after customers was always an enjoyable part of the job and now it’s even more satisfying helping them to specify systems to support their business, save energy and save money, “he added.
