    A monitored alarm is an intruder alarm system that is connected to an alarm receiving centre (ARC). When an alarm is activated, the ARC will contact a pre-agreed ‘nominated contact’ so that they can attend or contact the site. ‘Nominated contacts’ can be keyholders for a business premises or private home. If appropriate the ARC will also contact the local police authority or fire brigade.

    Can I ‘monitor’ my own intruder alarm system?

    You can be listed as a keyholder on your monitored alarm system, so in the event of an alarm activation you will be notified by the Alarm Receiving Centre. Mobile phone applications can also be set up for you, so you receive notifications if your monitored alarm has been set/unset or been activated. This facility depends on the type of control panel/system you have installed.

    What is a confirmed alarm system?

    A confirmed alarm system is also sometimes referred to as a ‘sequential alarm’. It is a system whereby two separate devices or zones have to be activated within a pre-determined time. The Alarm Receiving Centre will then notify keyholders and the local police authority or the fire brigade services to attend the site. The benefit of a confirmed/sequential alarm system is that it can reduce responses to false alarms.Some insurance companies may ask for your alarm system to be designed and installed as a confirmed/sequential alarm system.
